If you’ve ever scrolled through Instagram or pinned endless wedding shots on Pinterest (guilty as charged 🙋♀️), you’ve probably seen what people call the perfect couple shot — flawless poses, dreamy lighting, magazine-worthy smiles.
And while those pictures look beautiful… can I let you in on a little secret?
The most perfect couple shots aren’t the ones that look staged.
They’re the ones that feel real.

So many couples tell me the same thing before their wedding:
“We’re awkward in front of the camera.”
“We’re not sure how to pose.”
“We just want to look natural!”
And I get it — nobody wants to feel like they’re in a photoshoot on one of the biggest, most emotional days of their life. But here’s the thing… chasing after that Pinterest-perfect shot can actually make you feel more awkward. It can pull you out of the moment, make you worry about angles and poses, and honestly? It steals a little bit of the magic.
What Really Makes a Wedding Photo Perfect?
It’s the way you glance at each other when you think no one’s watching. The laugh you can’t hold in when your partner whispers something cheeky. The way your hand finds theirs during the vows.
Those unscripted, blink-and-you’ll-miss-them moments? That’s the good stuff. That’s what tells your story — not a forced pose or a smile that isn’t quite you.
As a wedding photographer, I see my job as being your quiet observer (and occasional hype girl when you need it!). I’m not there to bark orders or make you feel like models. I’m there to gently guide you, help you relax, and capture the magic that’s already happening between you.
